Negi visited the jail yesterday to inspect the ongoing construction of an extension building.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that the jail presently accommodating 133 inmates in excess to its capacity of 44 prisoners, which is in violation of human rights as the basic facilities were inadequate for all of them, the chief secretary said that the building on completion would house 100 inmates and solve the problem.
Another installment of Rs 2.5 crore has been received while more grants sought from the 13th and 14th Finance Commissions which will help improve the district jail at Tezu in Lohit district, he said.
"Jail reforms are taken up on priority by the state government to check repeated jail breaks," Negi added.
The CS who inspected various parts of the jail also distributed certificates to the inmates who have undergone HIV tests conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) on Wednesday.
