The Shiromani Akali Dal-controlled Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has sought Home Minister Rajnath Singh's intervention in expediting filing of charge-sheets against those involved in 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
"We have written to the Home Minister and urged him to expedite filing of charge-sheets against the guilty including Sajjan Kumar for their involvement in the riots," DSGMC President Manjit Singh G K told reporters.
He also demanded setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the cases.
"Over 250 cases have been closed without any basis. We demand constitution of an SIT which reopens those cases and investigates them. We also demand the cases to be heard by fast track courts to ensure speedy justice," he said.
Manjit also said that the Congress government has been blatantly shielding Sajjan Kumar and the Sikhs are hopeful that the new government would help them get justice.
Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal of playing politics on the issue, he said, "We are not demanding a 'Kejriwal'-like SIT but on the lines of the one constituted by the Supreme Court for probing Gujarat riots."

"What Kejriwal played were political gimmicks. He wasn't concerned about the emotions of Sikhs but was only concentrating on garnering votes. He never patiently listened to what Sikhs were actually demanding," he said.
The AAP government had decided to set up an SIT to probe the Sikh riots. The Lt Governor is yet to notify setting up of the SIT.
The DSGMC also demanded rehabilitation measures for the victims.
"The victim families should be rehabilitated with jobs and dwelling units," he said.
Meanwhile, DSGMC also met Delhi Governor requesting him to waive tax on the screening of the movie 'Chaar Sahabzade' which is based on the history of Sikhs.
"The movie is tax-free in Punjab. We are hopeful that it will be made tax free in Delhi and other parts of the country too," Manjit said.
