He issued the instruction after a review meeting of toilet-construction work, with the officers of Water Supply and Sanitation department here at Punjab Bhawan.
"The need of the hour is to expedite the pace of work so that the target of making Punjab an open defection free is achieved at the earliest," he said.
"The state government has set a target of constructing 7.90 lakh toilets in the state with a view to make state totally defection free. These toilets will benefit people both individually and socially besides providing a hygienic environment in the state," he added.
During the meeting, Badal was told that the toilet construction work had been completed in Fathegarh Sahib.
"By the end of current fiscal, 12 more districts including Moga, Ludhiana, Mansa, Faridkot, Bathinda, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and others would also achieve 100 per cent completion target," an official said.
