Expelled MLA attacks Cong, says it's a sinking ship
Press Trust of India Rampur (UP) Local MLA Nawab Kasim Ali Khan, who was expelled from Congress for cross voting in the recent Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh against party candidate Kapil Sibal, today claimed the party is a sinking ship and "not concerned" about the welfare of the masses.
"They (Congress) have brought me out of the sinking ship and relieved me of the suffocating conditions. I am thankful to the Congress high-command for freeing me. The party is not concerned about the welfare of the masses," he said at an iftar party in Godi village here yesterday.
"Whenever I knocked at the doors of the party leadership to apprise them of people's issues, I was ignored. They never lend an ear to me," he alleged.
Khan also hinted at joining BSP, saying it was the only party which could check the "emergence of communal forces and it is only Mayawati who is capable of improving the law-and- order situation in Uttar Pradesh".
Congress had on Monday expelled Khan and five other MLAs.
