Expert underlines need for research in optical antenna
Press Trust of India Chennai Latest advancements in the field of Electronics and communication engineering with the focus on areas such as optical antenna came up for discussion at a DRDO-CSIR sponsored national conference on communication and computing techniques here.
Delivering the key-note address at the National Conference on "Advanced Communication and Computing Techniques -NCACCT'14", organised by Sri Sairam Engineering College yesterday, Dr D Sriram, Head of the Department of ECE at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, said the current focus in the field communication was on optical antenna, secret robot, flexible mobile phones and free space optics.
Smaller optical antennas would ultimately replace bigger dish antennas used for communicating with satellites, he said exhorting the engineering students to undertake research in these areas.
Pondicherry University's Associate Professor Dr. T. Shanmuganathan gave a technical talk on 'Planar Antennas' at the conference, organised by the Department of ECE in association with Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) and The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , a college release said today. Various papers were presented in the fields Communication and Computing Techniques.
