Terming the cyber security threat as a "big challenge", Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said an experts committee set up to suggest ways to tackle the problem is likely to submit its report in three months.
"Cyber security threat is a big challenge for the country. Effective steps have been taken to strengthen cyber security," he said in Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour.
The Minister said an experts committee has been set up to suggest ways and means to strengthen cyber security in the country and it is likely to submit its report and recommendations within three months.
He was replying to a supplementary question in regard to security breach at domestic airports.
Minister of State for Home Affairs H P Chaudhary said 30 security breaches have been reported at airports since 2011 including the latest one at the Nagpur airport on February 5.
He said Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, investigates into incidents of lapses and security breaches.
BCAS has taken steps to strengthen security arrangements, which include time-bound deployment of Central Industrial Security Force at airports and Quick Reaction Teams at major airports.
Chaudhary replied in negative when asked if government was planning to hand over certain aspects of security measures to private agencies.
