Explosive materials seized, 2 detained

Explosive substances meant for making bombs were seized in a hilly area in Piranmalai in the district and two persons have been detained in this connection, police said today.
On a tip-off, a police team conducted searches in the area and found explosives stored in a bucket around midnight yesterday.
Special Intelligence Unit of police from Madurai have been questioning two persons in connection with the seizure, police said.
According to police, the explosives were meant to be used for making bombs.
The duo had been taken to Madurai today for further interrogation, police said, refusing to give details of the explosives, including their nature and quantity.
