BJP supporters in Tripura had an extended Holi today after the saffron party put an end to 25 years of Left Front rule in the north-eastern state.
The BJP supporters got a whiff of things to come early in the day and started smearing saffron "gulal" on each other. Their celebrations knew no bounds when the picture became clearer as the day progressed.
The supporters and workers of the BJP gathered at the party's Agartala office, much before the results were formally declared.
The celebrations elsewhere were no less either.
Thousands of people, including women, descended on the streets and danced to drum beats, distributed sweets and smeared colours on each other to celebrate the BJP's landslide victory against the CPI(M)-led Left Front in Tripura.
"This is a victory of the people, this is a victory of us, so we are celebrating Holi again, because we hope that the people will not be discriminated against and that they will get justice in the true sense of the word," Ramala Saha (35) said at Melar Math here.
