In a memorandum to Southern Railway General Manager Ashok Agarwal, chamber president D Nandakumar said they had often represented for introduction of an exclusive overnight Express Train between Coimbatore and Bengaluru.
A train is being run between Yeswantpur and Coimbatore weekly twice on Thursday and Saturday nights, which passengers find inconvenient, it said.
The Chamber said it has received representations from various sectors, stating that the service should be run on Wednesday and Sunday nights, as there would be three clear days to do business and return to their destinations.
Stating that Railways may withdraw this special service by this month end, the chamber requested Agarwal to extend it for another three months as it would help Medical and Engineering students attend counselling.
