Extensive transport arrangement to be made for Lusofonia Games

Extensive transport services will be put in place to ferry athletes, delegates, technical officials, volunteers, spectators and others to and from the competition venues during the upcoming Lusofonia Games scheduled to be held in January 2014.
Director of Transport Arun Desai told this to reporters during a press conference here today.
"The enormous fleet of vehicles being put into service for the prestigious international sporting event, the Lusofonia Games, will include branded vehicles, disability- friendly services and comfortable shuttle services for spectators to and from the competition venues," Desai said.
A fleet of 400 cars/SUVs and 100 buses will be pressed into service during the Games for the athletes, technical officials, Association of the Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committees (ACOLOP) and Lusofonia Games Organising Committee (LUGOC) officials, media, volunteers and spectators.
Briefing the media on the operational aspects of the Games, LUGOC officials also shared the details on the fleet operations and transport arrangements being made for officials and delegates during the Games.
Sporting the official logo and mascot, the air-conditioned vehicles will be made available for the transporting of players and officials to and fro from the competition venues. Detailed arrangements will also been made for the ticketed spectators, they said.

Two central transport hubs, one each in north Goa (ground opposite ETDC near All India Radio at Bambolim) and south Goa (open ground in front of Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Borda) have been identified.
The dedicated shuttle services will be made available every half an hour from Panjim and Margao KTC bus stands.
Schedules of shuttle services and route maps will be made available on the Lusofonia Games official web portal -- www.Lusofoniagames2014.Gov-- in a few days prior to the commencement of the Games, the officials said.
