Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni arrives here to co-chair the meeting of the Commission with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna when the two sides will jointly coordinate and oversee implementation of initiatives taken during the visits of Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Sheikh Hasina during their visits to Dhaka and Delhi since January 2010.

It will also to explore newer avenues for cooperation including progress of activities under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation and Development signed during Singh's visit to Dhaka in September last year, a Ministry of External Affairs Ministry statement said today.

The Joint Consultative Commission was envisaged as an annual event at the level of Foreign Ministers in the joint statement issued after Singh's visit to Dhaka seven months ago.

India has been pushing for early signing of an extradition treaty that will facilitate bringing back of northeastern Indian insurgents holed up in Bangladesh. (more)
