Driving a Red Bull F1 car on the Tank Bund Road and twice around the Hussain Sagar lake, Coulthard reached a top speed of 282 kms per hour.
Onlookers applauded as they zoomed past. The 25-year-old old Aras, in particular, enthralled the crowd with motorcycle acrobatics.
The event was flagged off by the Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.
Coulthard, a 13-time Grand Prix winner, had taken the car for a spin on Sea Link in Mumbai in 2009.
He later told the reporters that it was fantastic to be back in India.
"Going by the crowd reaction, they enjoyed the motorbike and the car. I enjoyed the opportunity to bring Formula 1 to the people again," Coulthard added.
Aras too said he was quite excited. "It's an impressive moment," he said.
