The issue was raised by Arjun Khotkar (Shiv Sena), Chhagan Bhujbal (NCP), and Dilip Walse Patil (NCP), asking the BJP-run Maharashtra government to clarify the need for a notification when the legislative session is on.
"Such a notification does not require approval of the legislature, but I agree that the government should have made a statement in the legislature," Fadnavis told the Legislative Assembly.
Fadnavis said that the notification was issued in view of the Centre's land acquisition ordinance, but since the ordinance has been re-promulgated, it has become infructuous.
