Fadnavis, Gadkari discuss Maha irrigation, road projects

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari today discussed various irrigation and road projects in the state and the allocation of Central funds for these initiatives.
"Release of Central assistance for Gosikhurd National and other 25 projects, status of PMKSY projects in Maharashtra and their fast tracking were discussed," Fadnavis said after two meetings with the union minister.
"Due to these 26 projects, around five lakh hectares land will come under irrigation. I thank Gadkari ji for the unprecedented allocation of a large chunk of Central funds," Fadnavis said.
Gadkari assured the CM that the Centre will give all assistance to Maharashtra especially in farmer distressed areas and make financial provisions for the same.
"The Centre has agreed to move ahead with DamanGanga Pinjal, Nar-Par-Girna, Par-Godavari and other projects with making of new MoUs," Fadnavis said.
"Progress and issues of Nagpur Ringroad, six laning of Pune-Satara section of NH4, four laning of Khed-Sinnar and other projects were discussed in the meeting with Gadkari," Fadnavis said.

The status of completion of ongoing irrigation projects in agriculture distressed districts was also reviewed during the meeting, he said.
Union minister Subhash Bhamre, state ministers Girish Mahajan, Ram Shinde, Vijay Shivtare and senior Central and State officials were also present.
Fadnavis greeted Gadkari and wished him a 'great tenure' on taking charge as Minister for Water Resources. Both Fadnavis and Gadkari hail from Nagpur in Vidarbha.
