Fadnavis pays homage to Colonel Santosh Mahadik
Press Trust of India Pune Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid homage to Colonel Santosh Mahadik, who was killed during an anti-insurgency operation in Jammu and Kashmir, when the the army officer's mortal remains were brought here tonight en route to his native Satara district.
Fadnavis said that the state as well as the whole country would stand by the family of Colonel Mahadik and take complete responsibility for their welfare.
A recipient of the Sena medal for gallantry, 39-year-old Mahadik was yesterday leading a team of 41 Rashtriya Rifles in a combing operation in Kupwara in north Kashmir when he fell prey to terrorists' bullets.
The last rites will be performed at Pogarwadi village in Satara district with full military honours.
