"Independents cannot give an alternative to the BJP. The Congress leaders have already conceded their defeat by joining hands with Independents for upcoming 2017 Goa legislative assembly elections," BJP's State General Secretary Sadanand Tanavade told reporters here yesterday.
Tanavade was reacting to statements issued by a group of legislators including Congress' Vishwajit Rane, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, expelled Congress legislator Atanasio Monserratte and independents Vijai Sardessai, Rohan Khaunte and Naresh Sawal which had accused BJP government in Goa of failing to implement their manifesto.
Tanavade said the BJP has already listed out its achievements during the last four years in the state and has distributed the pamphlets.
"We have everything on record. People of Goa have seen how the party's government has been instrumental in developing the state and implementing the social welfare measures," he said.
A group of Opposition legislators addressing a press conference last week had vowed to corner Laxmikant Parsekar-led government on the floor of the House during the Assembly session which began today.
