Failure of governments to provide jobs has led to unrest among the people, All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Secretary Amarjeet Kaur said Sunday.

"It is the duty of governments, both the Centre and state, to provide jobs to its population and the failure in this front is creating unrest among the people," Kaur told reporters while briefing on the deliberations of the 41st national conference of AITUC, which concluded here today.

As jobs in government sector are shrinking, it was government's duty to take care of the population by providing jobs in private sectors, she said.
