Fake assault rifles, army combat dresses seized in raid

Three fake assault rifles with magazines and a large number of Army combat uniform and boots were unearthed in Dima Hasao district today, Army sources said.
Based on reliable information the Haflong-based 11 Gorkha Rifles unit of the Army carried out the raid near Kaporchera under Harangajao police station area, the sources said.
The battalion personnel on examination found the weapons were fake but bore exact resemblance to AK series assault rifles and the weapons were being used by miscreants for extortion and robbery in the area, they said.
So far no arrest was made in this connection, the sources said.

Recently two vehicles from Silchar-Haflong road were hijacked from the area during the night time by groups of miscreants at gun point, they added.
