Fake currency racket busted in Odisha

With the arrest of eight persons including two women and seizure of counterfeit currency notes, the police today claimed to have busted a fake currency racket in Odisha's Bargarh district.
Fake currency notes of different denominations with a face value of Rs 6.12 lakh were seized from the accused persons who were arrested yesterday, Bargarh Superintendent of Police B Jugal Kishore, said.
The accused were identified as Krushna Chandra Meher (35) of Naktamunda in Sonepur district, Nilachala Sahu (38) and his wife Sanjukta (31) of Bhimtikra in Sonepur district, Balram Meher (35) and his wife Kanti Meher (30) of Barpali in Bargarh district, Dibakara Meher (25) and his brother Amaresh Meher (21) of Jhulapali in Bargarh district and Ramakanta Meher of Kebad in Bargarh district, the SP said.
The Police have seized 85 pieces of counterfeit currencies of Rs 2,000 denomination, 793 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination and 19 fake notes of Rs 100 denomination from the possession of the accused persons, he said.
The accused persons had been operating in the district for around two months, the SP said.
