The families had left Rameswaram early this morning and come to the airport at about 8.00 AM, as they were told the fishermen would arrive here from Colombo by a Sri Lankan flight, wife of one of the fishermen, told reporters.
They waited till noon but there was no news of the arrival of their loved ones.
It was at this point of time they were told by officials that the fishermen would be going directly to Delhi.
"We left Rameswaram at 2 AM this morning and arrived here by 5 AM. We thought they will come by the morning flight and since they did not arrive, decided to wait for the afternoon flight. Our children also were eager to meet their father", she said.
