Nemai Mal of Raghunathganj in Murshidabad district today came to the Bidhannagar police station in Durgapur with the body of his son Uttam Mal and demonstrated before the police station alleging that Uttam died after he was allegedly beaten up by policemen last night.
After demonstrating before the police station, he went to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Durgapur and lodged a complaint against the policemen of Bidhannagar police station alleging that they beat his son to death.
Mal alleged that policemen on patrol last night caught hold of Uttam when he walking drunk and beat up him severely. They then took him to local hospital and when his condition deteriorated they hired a vehicle and send Uttam to his home in Raghunathganj. But he succumbed to his injuries.
The SDO forwarded Mal's complaint to the police to investigate the matter.
