Family members force woman to get married a second time

Family members of a woman, who married a man from Nashik last year against their wishes, forced her to tie the knot with another man of their choice, police said today.
The 23-year-old woman from Nalla Sopra area here got married to the man she was in love with early last month but the alliance was opposed by her family members, Sub-Inspector R U Bhosle of Tulinj Police Station in Vasai said.
A few days later,her family members along with some others tied and dumped her in a car. They took her to a temple at Ankleshwar in adjoining Gujarat and forcibly got her married to another man, according to the police complaint lodged by the woman last evening.

The complaint, police said, further claimed the woman's second "husband" took her to Jodhpur, Bharuch and Nashik, where he repeatedly tortured her.
Police have registered offences under IPC Sections related to kidnapping, wrongfully keeping in confinement kidnapped person, cruelty by husband or relative of a woman, among others, against nine persons, including the driver of the car used in abduction.
Investigation into the complaint is in a preliminary stage and no arrest has been made so far, police added.
