The family of the late singer thinks that she was worthy of more than a television film, reported TMZ online.
"Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening," said Pat Houston, Whitney's former manager.
Lifetime made the announcement earlier this week that they are planning a biopic on Whitney for 2015, with Angela Bassett making her directorial debut with the film.
The Houston estate is reportedly planning its own movie for the big screen.
