Famous religious Pushkar Fair to start from tomorrow

The famous religious fair of Pushkar will start from tomorrow and over 5 lakh pilgrims are expected to participate in the two-week-long gala.
Cattle fair has already started from November 1 and over 5,000 animals have reached the ground.
Collector and Chairman, Pushkar Fair Advisory Committee Gorav Goyal told to PTI that various programmes will be held after the flag hoisting ceremony. The flag hoisting will be done by Parliamentary Secretary Suresh Singh Rawat.
Pandit Ravi Sharma said that religious 'Kartik Panch Teerth Bath' will starts from November 11. The other religious functions are 'Kartik Ekadashi' and 'Kartik Poornima'.
He is performing Pushkar Lake Maha Aarti from Varah Ghat in which thousands of pilgrims will participate.
Shilpgram Handicraft Market will start in evening and Deepdan at 52 Ghats of Pushkar Lake.

"Best of Rajasthan" cultural programme will start in mela ground in which more than one hundred artists from various parts of Rajasthan will perform Rajasthani traditional programme.
Tourists of various countries are reaching Pushkar. Various programs will also organised at ground till November 14.
Pushkar Fair will conclude after a closing ceremony on November 14.
More than 5 lakh pilgrims are expected to see participate in the fair.

Traditional games like Sitoliya, Langdi Tang and others
will be the special attraction for tourists in the fair.
"Camel dance, camel decoration, spiritual walk, kite flying demonstration, moustache competition, turban tying will be among other several activities besides musical and cultural performance," said Sanjay Johri, Deputy Director Tourism department-Ajmer
The livestock include 2,100 horses. The animals have come here for trading, Dr Deepak Gupta of the animal husbandry department said.
He said that nearly 10,000 cattle are traded in the fair annually.
According to the Hindu chronology, thefairtakes place in the month of Kartika beginning on ashtmi - 8th day of Lunar Calendar and continues till full moon (Poornima).
The cattle trading is at its peak during the first half of festival period. During the latter half, religious activities dominate the scenario.
Devotees take dips in the holySarovarlake, as the sacred water is known to bestow salvation.
