The 29-year-old actress is heard singing a folk song titled 'Let No Man Steal Your Thyme', backed up by co-star Michael Sheen, in the first trailer of the period drama, reported Ace Showbiz.
The film is based on Thomas Hardy's novel of the same name. It was Hardy's first classic English pastoral novel which was published 140 years ago on November 23, 1874.
Mulligan stars as Bathsheba Everdene who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching willfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.
Thomas Vinterberg is directing the movie based on Hardy's work and a screenplay by David Nicholls. It was filmed against backdrop of Hardy's home county of Dorset.
'Far from the Madding Crowd' is set to release in limited US theatres on May 1, 2015.
