Navchetna Trust, an NGO based in Faridabad, has invited people from the city to make 25th July as a "historical day" by taking part in the 'largest plantation drive,' officials said.
With the help of 20,000 volunteers, the NGO claims to plant two lakh saplings of various species in a span of three hours starting from 8 AM, officials said.
Saplings, including sturdy Alstonia, riotous Gulmohar blossoms, soothing Neem, Arjuna herbs, lush palms, fragrant Kadams and luscious fruit bearing trees like Guava and Jamun, will be planted on the day, the NGO officials said.
Chairman of the trust and MLA from Faridabad, Vipul Goel, said, "To make the city of Faridabad as a smart city, it is imperative that we all take on the collective responsibility of making it pollution free. I urge each one of you to fulfill your responsibility towards the city and the nation by volunteering to be a part of the largest plantation."
The drive will be attended by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar along with a host of other senior dignitaries.
