A farm owner was today arrested for allegedly poisoning a leopard to death near Mettupalayam in the district, police said.
The carcass of the seven-year-old leopard, was found yesterday on the Udhgamandalam Road, bore no external injury.
A postmortem report revealed the cause of the death due to intake of poisonous food, police said.
Investigations revealed that the owner Nanjan had kept poison-laced meat in his farm to finish the leopard, which was reportedly entering there and killing his cattle, police said.
