Amid the ongoing farmers agitation across Maharashtra, a farmer today raised slogans against Union Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh at a programme here.
Singh was in the city to inaugurate the refurbished milk processing plant of Mother Dairy.
After the inauguration, the Agriculture minister addressed a programme, where hundreds of farmers across Vidarbha and Marathwada had gathered.
However, Singh's speech was interrupted by the farmer who raised the slogans. Other farmers present at the venue applauded his act.
Undeterred by the protest, Singh continued with his speech.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and other state ministers were present at the event.
Singh attacked Congress leaders for the woes of farmers and policy failures of the earlier government.
"The BJP government is working for empowerment of farmers. The income of farmers cannot be doubled by increasing the MSP but by increasing the production capacity of the farmer's land," he said.
Fadnavis said Vidarbha and Marathwada will see a milk revolution in the future and all the closed dairy plants will be revived.
