“Replies given in Parliament on the issue of farmer’s suicide during the UPA government,” Jaitley tweeted attaching four answers given during March 2012 and February 2014 in both Houses of Parliament. Jaitely highlighted ‘love affair’ in the list of reasons given by then minister of state for agriculture and food processing industries Charan Das Mahant to the Rajya Sabha on March 30, 2012.
The other reply is attached was that of then Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar given to Lok Sabha on February 2, 2013, highlighting ‘love affair’ besides unemployment, property dispute, bankruptcy or sudden change in economic status, poverty, career problem, barrenness/impotency, cancellation/non-settlement of marriage, dowry dispute and fall in social reputation as causes of suicides.
