The farmers alleged that around 50,000 sack of potato seeds which was kept by them in the government cold storage in Dhupguri has developed fungus and cannot be used.
Around 800 farmers blocked the NH 31 from 11 am demanding compensation for their potato seeds which has developed fungus and cannot be used.
The cold storage authorities said they have send the samples of the potato seeds to laboratory for tests.
The Dhupgiri Block Development Officer (BDO) Soumen Duttaraj said he has heard about the farmers blocking the NH 31 at Dhupguri but said the farmers have not given any written complaint to him regarding damaged to potato seeds.
