Miffed over poor wheat crop due to adverse weather conditions, many farmers today burnt the wheat crop in their fields in several panchayats of Bihar's Kisanganj district.
District Agriculture Officer Anil Kumar Yadav confirmed receiving reports of farmers burning crops in their fields in Budhnai, Chhatargach, Bhotanath and Koltha panchayats among others.
He said the Block Agriculture Officer has been asked to visit the panchayats to take stock of the situation.
One farmer Nurul Hassan said they would have to ungainfully spend money on reaping the crop, which were poor in yield and hence decided to burn them in the field itself.
The farmers were worried as they had raised money through loans for cultivation of wheat crop, which have poor yield.
