Impressed by the methods of farming used in the district, a 10-member delegation of Bhutan led by Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Dasho Sonam Tshering today showed interest in sending farmers from their country to Haryana to learn the technology to grow disease free vegetables, a spokesman said.
The delegation discussed issues of mutual interest with senior officers of Haryana government, he said.
The delegation visited Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for vegetables at Gharaunda and saw vegetables being grown through Israeli techniques in poly houses of the centre.
The delegation members maintained that both countries could mutually benefit by sharing their various techniques and claimed a technical team of Haryana would soon be invited to Bhutan, he said.
The officials of Agriculture Department showed the soil testing laboratory vehicle and various modern agricultural machines and equipments to the delegation, he said.
The delegation was informed about the changing trends of agriculture in Haryana, the development of the state in terms of food production and how the farmers benefited through it and became financially independent, the spokesman said.
