Farmers stage protest over land compensation

Farmers from different mandals of Sangareddy district in Telangana today staged a protest at the collectorate here seeking proper compensation for their lands that are being used for laying of electricity cables.
Farmers from Hathnoora, Sangareddy, Kandi and Pulkal mandals of Sangareddy district took part in the protest saying they were not being paid proper compensation although their agriculture lands are being used for the purpose of laying of high-tension electricity lines.
The cultivators demanded that they should be paid compensation as per the government orders.
Irate farmers carried pesticide bottles and threatened to commit suicide if their demand was not met.
Andole Krishna, state president of Sarpanches Aikya Vedik led the protest.
The farmers later met District Revenue Officer (DRO) U Raghu Ram Sharma and submitted to him their memorandum of demand. He assured them that the issue would be resolved soon.
