Farmers to be given agri input subsidy for crop damage due to

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said all farmers whose crop was damaged by unseasonal rain in February and March will be provided with "agriculture input subsidy" at the earliest.

Making a statement in the Assembly, Kumar said a detailed survey is being carried out by agriculture department on the impact of damage caused by untimely rain on rabi crop.

The government has sanctioned Rs 60 crore for distribution of agriculture input subsidy among the affected farmers, he said.

Expressing concern over the unusual weather in March, Kumar said the month of March received a large amount of rain the temperature is lower than usual.

Rabi crop has been damaged in all the districts of the state due to untimely rain in the state in two phases - between March 4 to 6 and from March 13 to 15, he said.

Crop was also damaged on 31,929 hectares of land in 11 districts due to untimely rain and hailstorm between February 24 to 26, Kumar said.

The affected farmers are being given Rs 13,500 per hectare for their crop damage, the CM added.
