Farmers union demand a budget exclusively for farmers

Demanding a budget exclusively for farmers and farm workers, members of the Puducherry unit of CPI-led Farmers Union held a demonstration today at the collectorate here.
Geethanathan, Union Secretary, said the agitation was to persuade the Centre and state government to prepare and adopt a budget for the farming community.
Other demands of the union include, monthly assistance of Rs.3000 to farmers above the age of 60, interest free loans for small and marginal farmers, hike in procurement price of milk to Rs.25 a litre.
