Estranged sister of Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and chief of Awami National Conference (ANC), Khalida Shah today claimed that authoirities were turning a blind eye to alleged violations of building norms by a relation of Abdullah family, a charge rubbished by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Shah claimed that the owner of a hotel near her residence had done some construction without leaving the mandatory fire gap of 10 feet.
"When we complained before the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, a demolition squad arrived at the spot. However, they had to return without taking any action as they were not allowed inside the premises," she claimed.
Omar refuted the charge and said if there are some grievances, they will be addressed.
"I do not wish to respond to what has come in media when I have not received a single complaint so far from her (Shah)," Omar said, adding that if such a complaint was received, it will be considered.
"Law will be abided by in case of any grievances," he said.
Relations between Shah and Abdullah have been strained since 1984 when her husband led a political battle against her brother to become the chief minister.
Though there were some signs of reconciliation between the two families in 2009 after G M Shah's death, Shah's fresh indicates that the relations have not normalised yet.
