Udayveer Sharma, father of undertrial Rajesh Tota, yesterday claimed that his son was killed in a fake encounter under a "well-planned conspiracy" by the police and alleged that the jail staff was complicit with the rival group responsible for the jail shootout on Saturday.
The incident took place in Mathura jail on Saturday when a rival gang allegedly opened fire on Tota and two others, killing one on spot and injuring Tota.
Speaking to Agra Zone IG Sunil Kumar Gupta at the postmortem house yesterday, Sharma claimed that the doctors, immediately after providing primary aid to his son, had advised the police to shift his son to Agra for treatment.
Then, Sharma questioned, why did the police wait till night time to take him to Agra.

He also questioned why the police had stopped the family from accompanying Tota to Agra in their own cars and why a family member was not allowed to accompany him in the ambulance.
The officer said nothing can be said about the matter presently and the incident will be probed on many levels. Assuring the family, the IG said, action will be taken against those responsible.
