Father of gang-rape victim dies in road mishap, family cries

The father of a woman, who was gang-raped and murdered, died in a road accident on Yamuna Expressway today with his family members claiming foul play.
He was riding a motorcycle when an unknown vehicle hit him, killing him on the spot.
His relatives have lodged a case against a village head and seven others. They alleged that the relatives of the rape-and-murder case accused have killed the man.
The pillion rider sustained injuries in the accident, police said, adding that they would question him later.
On May 9, a minor girl was gang-raped and set on fire in Jewar area. She later died of burns. Police had arrested four persons in this connection and sent them to jail.

On May 29, the accused's relatives had lodged a separate complaint of rape against the victim's brother. Police had also arrested him.
He was today released after his father's death.
Personnel of Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary have been deployed in the village to avoid any untoward incident.
