The incident took place at Naini area when some motorcycle-borne persons shot dead 50-year-old Gulab Kushwaha and his son Mukesh (30) and fled the spot.
According to police, Gulab had been strongly opposed to the sale of a land, jointly owned by him and his brother Babloo.
Babloo had sold the land for a hefty sum to Bhola Prajapati, a local history-sheeter who had of late taken up the business of property dealing.
Gulab had refused to accept his share of the money raised towards the price of the land sold to Prajapati and even threatened to move the court challenging the sale which had been effected without him being taken into confidence, police said.
This had infuriated Prajapati who went to Kushwaha's place along with 12 of his associates and opened fire on the father-son duo, killing them on the spot, police said.
One person, known to be close to Prajapati and believed to be among the assailants, has been arrested, police said, adding that efforts were on to nab the other culprits. PTI NAC SCY
