Father-Son shot dead by ex-serviceman over petty issue

A man and his son were allegedly shot dead by an ex serviceman over a petty issue at Basant Kot village this evening, police said.
Police said Heera Singh (60) and his son Dilbag (24) were constructing a temporary shed to store straw for animals and a piece of their construction structure went towards the house of their neighbour Nirmal Singh, an ex- serviceman.
Angered over the development, Nirmal allegedly opened fire from his licensed double barrel gun on Heera and his son Dilbag and shot them dead on the spot, police said.
SSP Batala Diljinder Singh, DSP Dera Baba Nanak Harpal Singh and SHO Kotli Surat Malhi Balwinder Singh reached the spot after the incident.

A case has been registered against Nirmal Singh who was absconding, police said.
The bodies of the victims were sent to civil hospital here for postmortem examination.
