Automaker FCA India today said it has started exports of its India made SUV Jeep Compass with first lot of 600 units on way to Australia and Japan.
The company, which had launched the model in the country three months ago, plans to export the vehicle to more international markets through the ongoing quarter.
"We had planned to start shipping the India-made Jeep Compass in the fourth quarter of this calendar year and we are on track," Fiat India Automobiles CEO Gurpratap Boparai said in a statement.
Soon, Jeep Compass will be seen on the roads in Australia and Japan, the company's first two right-hand drive export destinations, he added.
The shipment was dispatched from Bombay Port Trust Ltd.
FCA India President and Managing Director Kevin Flynn said the company is looking forward to a strong 2018 when production will be at full pace delivering on target domestic and export numbers.
"We have added five more sales and service outlets since July taking our distribution reach now up to 55; closing this year with 60, as committed," he added.
