The proposed tuition fee for MBBS, BDS, BAMS and other courses will be applicable for students studying in private unaided institutes except institutions that are deemed or private universities, according to officials.
The department of medical education and research has proposed that the annual tuition fee including development charges for MBBS course will go up from present Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh with an annual hike of 5 per cent, they said.
Likewise, for the BDS course, annual tuition fee including development charges will go up from the present Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh with a annual hike of 5 per cent.
NRI students undergoing BDS will have to pay USD 44,000 for the entire course as against USD 35,000 which they pay at present, according to the proposal.

For the BAMS course, the annual tuition fee including development charges will go up from Rs 87,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh, officials said.
The department has sought "representations (objections)" on the proposed fees till July 15.
