Deepavali, the festival of lights, was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across Tamil Nadu today with devouts making a beeline to temples to offer prayers early in the morning.
People clad in colourful clothes burst crackers and exchanged greetings and sweets with friends and neighbours.
Cinema remains a chief attraction during the festive holidays but this Deepavali, only two Tamil films starring big stars have hit the screens.
'Kodi', starring Dhanush in a dual role and Karthi's 'Kashmora,' both of which have seen heightened expectations among film buffs.
'Kadalai' and 'Thiraikku Varatha Kathai' were also released across screens in the state.
Besides, private TV channels have a line up of special film-based and other programmes, vying for the attention of the viewers.
Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, state BJP leaders Pon Radhakrishnan and Tamilisai Sounderrajan and TNCC President Su Thirunavukkarasar among others have extended Deepavali greetings to the people.
