According to an official release, Alvarez said he had inspected the stadiums and training facilities at Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium, Nehru Stadium, SAI Sports Complex and the Judges Field in the city.
"We have been on the move, non-stop, after landing in Guwahati," he said.
The statement further said the FIFA official told Gogoi that Guwahati has the requisite facilities but some stadiums require maintenance to hold the prestigious event.
Alvarez hoped that Assam's sports relationship with FIFA would be lasting and meaningful.

"We have a whole lot of things to do here. It's good to see the passion for football in this part of the country," he added.
On the other hand, Gogoi promised to extend all possible support and cooperation from the state government in holding the event.
"Our government will go to any length in extending support to the tournament and would take necessary steps to spruce up the stadiums for the big event," he added.
The FIFA under 17 World Cup in 2017 will witness participation of 190 countries.
