Fifth sub-junior hockey national championship from May 6

The 5th Sub-Junior Hockey India National Championship will be organised at K.K Hakku AstroTurf Stadium in the state's winter capital from May 6.
"Hockey J&K is organizing 5th Sub-Junior Hockey India National Championship at K.K Hakku AstroTurf Stadium Jammu w.E.F May 6-17 under the aegis of Hockey India", Working President, Hockey J&K, S M Sahai told reporters here today.
Sahai, who is Additional Director General (ADG) of Armed Police said, "the Championship is being organized in collaboration with J&K Sports Council where as J&K Bank and HDFC Bank are the co-sponsors of the event. Besides Hakku stadium, Jammu University and M A Stadium shall be the other venues of the championship."
"This is the first time Sub-Junior Hockey India National Championship is being organized in J&K. Earlier Senior Men Hockey National Championship was organized way back in 2000," he said.
"More than 500 Players and Officials from 20 States across the country are participating in the 5th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship comprising J&K, Bhopal, Assam, Mumbai, Goa, Kerela, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Pondicherry, Gujrat, Bengal, Tripura, Patiala, Himachal, Bihar, Chandigarh, Vidharbha," he added.
As many as 22 officials of Hockey India comprising Tournament Director, Umpire Manager, Judges and Technical officials besides one observer and two selectors will also be arriving for the event.
"The teams shall be arriving today. Hockey J&K has arranged the boarding and lodging of the teams at Kalika Dhaam, Saraswati Dham and Vaishnovi Dham, Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground respectively," he said.
The boarding and lodging for the Technical officials of HI have been arranged at the Police GO Mess, Faculty Guest House Jammu University and PWD Guest House, respectively. Local transportation from the place of accommodation to the venue has also been arranged.
"In order to avoid any inconvenience to the visiting teams and their officials, two liaison officers have been assigned with each team. Further, at all Reception Centers such as Railway Station, etc all the relevant information have been be conspicuously displayed.
