The film, which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, earlier pushed backed its production dates in the wake of Charlie Hunnam's abrupt decision to drop out of the billionaire's role, reported BBC news.
Universal Pictures has clarified that delay in the release date has nothing to do with the casting change.
"Together with the international marketing and distribution team, we've been looking really closely at the August date and becoming more and more convinced that the right thing to do for the movie was to push it," Donna Langley, Universal Pictures chairman said.
Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing the movie.
