BJP today dubbed the wrangling within the ruling Yadav clan in Uttar Pradesh a "high-voltage family drama" to deflect the attention of the people and media from the Samajwadi Party government's "all-round failure".
The party said the state government is taking its last breath in ICU and nothing can rescue it at the fag end of its term after it "looted" the state throughout its tenure.
"No medicine or prayer will rescue this government. What we are seeing right now in the SP is nothing but a high voltage family drama aimed at diverting the attention of people and media from its failures as elections approach.
"This government is an alliance of crime and corruption. It is a sinking ship. People are eager for a change. They will vote for the BJP's agenda of good governance and development," its national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.
Questioning Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's sincerity in his dismissal of mining minister Gayatri Prajapati, Sharma said the state's Lokayukta had called for his sack and a probe against him two years ago but he took no action.
Referring to the Mathura violence over the police's action in removing encroachers that left 24 people, including two police officers, dead, the BJP leader alleged that the state government sat over 80 intelligence reports warning the administration about the encroachers but no action was taken.
