File case if cognisable offence made out in complaint against Kanimozhi, others: HC tells police
Press Trust of India Chennai The Madras High Court today directed police to register a case if a cognisable offence was made out in a complaint filed against DMK MP Kanimozhi, lyricist Vairamuthu and Dravida Kazhagam leader Veeramani for delivering speeches that allegedly hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
The petition was filed by G Radhakrishnan, who described himself a social worker campaigning for the rights of deprived Hindus.
The petitioner alleged speeches by Kanimozhi, Vairamuthu and Veeramani had hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
Despite filing a complaint, the police did not take any action which prompted him to move court, he said.
When the plea came up today, Justice MS Ramesh directed the Inspector, Pulianthope police station, to register a case if a cognizable offence was made out in the complaint against the three.
