Fill up 75 pc vacant posts in agri department: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today directed officials to fill up 75 per cent of vacant posts of agriculture department, adding the state is in "process of transformation towards sustainable agriculture."
Fadnavis, who chaired a meeting on issues of agriculture department with Agriculture Minister Eknath Khadse, Co-operatives Minister Chandrakant Patil and Minister of State for Home Ram Shinde, also directed to bring more sugarcane cultivation area under drip irrigation.
The department has projected 6.61 lakh hectare area under this scheme in 5 years, he said.
Fadnavis also reviewed progress made so far on projects and MoUs like RuchiSoya, soya bean oil refining project and CocaCola in Morshi, an official said.
The Chief Minister directed to speed up process for setting up of 'automated weather stations'. Final decision will be taken within 10 days, the official added.
Fadnavis also reviewed issues like vacancies, value addition projects, automated weather stations, National E-market projects being implemented in collaboration with Israel and preparation for bringing sugarcane area under drip irrigation.
