Film stars pay homage to soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Vicky Kaushal are among the prominent film personalities who paid tributes to the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil war on the 20th anniversary of the conflict.

July 26 is observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas every year to mark India's triumph over Pakistan in 'Operation Vijay'.

Taking to Twitter, Amitabh said India salutes the soldiers who laid down lives while defending the country.

"We salute you for your sacrifice .. your determined fight to protect us all and our country..." he tweeted.

Mangeshkar wrote, "Today is Kargil Vijay Diwas. I bow my head in honour of our soldiers and pay my respects to the brave sons of our country who sacrificed their lives (Aaj Kargil Vijay Diwas hai.Main hamare veer jawano'n ko koti koti naman karti hun aur veergati ko prapt hue un sabhi Bharat mata ke sapooton ko aadaranjali arpan karti hun)"
